Daniel loved flying Black Lion more than anything in the universe, but he knew that Keith’s calm leadership was what the team needed on this mission, not Daniel’s youthful bravado.Īll of the young Voltron pilots hugged Commander McClain goodbye. Vince’s optimism, like that of his best friend Daniel’s, had been crushed by Keith’s departure. Larmina had tried to hide her emotions behind the tough facade of a proud warrior, but when Coran wept openly at Allura’s farewell, Larmina cried right along with the elder statesman as they hugged Keith and Allura goodbye. He would be serving as royal advisor to the princess until Queen Allura and King Keith returned. Wily old Coran had aged a great deal in recent years, but his mind was still as sharp as ever. Keith and Allura had only been married a few years and had not yet produced an heir to inherit the Arusian throne, so Allura had appointed her niece Princess Larmina as regent in her absence. Vince knew that Pidge believed that he, Hunk, Lance, Allura, and Keith were the ones that had to embark on the mission, not the new, younger generation of pilots that they had trained to fly the lions. He and the other original members of the Voltron Force had been plagued by strange prophetic dreams of other their other selves, which Pidge believed were from parallel universes. Lana Stoker was furious at her husband at first, but Pidge wouldn’t let her talk him out of it. But he didn’t think that Pidge would insist on taking his place as Green Lion’s pilot, especially since he had recently become a new father. If Pidge believed that the distress signal from beyond the rift had to be answered by Voltron, Vince wasn’t going to argue with him. Princess Larmina, Daniel, and the others had gone to bed after their brave mentors’ departure, but Vince was still awake, mulling over the mysterious signal that he and Tech Sergeant Stoker had received from beyond the rift itself.ĭarrell Stoker-“Pidge” to his closest friends-was one of the most brilliant people Vince had ever met. Even though it was outside the edge of their solar system, the rift torn between the realities would eventually destroy them all if the original members of Voltron Force failed on their mission. (See the end of the work for more notes.)įrom one of the highest tower balconies of the Castle of Lions, Vince stared at the glowing hole in the sky above the planet Arus. On the average, they are younger than the Voltron Force and older than the Paladins.

The Lion Force pilots from Voltron Defender of the Universe are referred to as “Shorty” (Pidge), Hunk, Lance, (the younger) Commander Keith, and Princess Allura of Arus. I gave the members of Voltron Force names from the comics, so I refer to them by the names Tech Sergeant Darrell “Pidge” Stoker, Tech Sergeant Hunk Garrett, Commander Lance Charles McClain, Commander Keith Kogane, and Queen Allura of Arus. There’s plenty of action, danger, horror, angst, humor, friendship, and fluff in this story, so even if you don’t ship Plance and/or Kallura, there still a great deal to enjoy here. This tale is a sequel to my VLD alternate universe canon-divergent Plance story, “Clear Day,” and its very angsty sequel, “The Greatest Gift,” a story which takes place just before this adventure begins. This is a Voltron Legendary Defender, Voltron Force, and Voltron Defender of the Universe crossover, written for the 2021 Five Years of VLD event.Įven if you haven’t watched Voltron Force or Voltron Defender of the Universe (Lion Force Voltron), you’ll be able to follow what is happening in this story. In the end, this power proves they are truly worthy of the name Legendary Defenders. Finally, the Paladins realize that the greatest power they possess isn’t Voltron. As Keith fully accepts his role as the Black Paladin, his strong feelings for a particular teammate become undeniable and terrify him more than any foe he must confront. Keith finally accepts that he is not the loner he thought he was, learning that he needs to bond more with his team if he is going to lead them in the greatest battle that Voltron has ever faced. The deepest secrets of her heart will be revealed before Allura meets her ultimate destiny. Allura is tormented by survivor’s guilt while facing the temptation to sacrifice her life to save everyone. Pidge is plagued by doubts about her ability to relate to other people, especially when her secret unrequited love has been revealed and reciprocated. Lance battles his issues with self-esteem while learning what love truly is. A terrified Hunk realizes his incredible courage when his friends are in grave danger.

The Paladins meet other versions of themselves from two different parallel universes as they face some of their greatest fears during a battle to save all of the realities.
